HAMMERFALL Drummer On Guitarist's Departure: 'The Show Must Go On'
April 4, 2008Drummer Anders Johansson of Swedish melodic metallers HAMMERFALL has issued the following statement regarding the departure of guitarist Stefan Elmgren:
"There is never a good timing to lose a great guitarist like Stefan, but considering we're in between touring and recording, it could definately have been worse. We'll announce his replacement shortly so we can continue working on our next record. The recordings are scheduled for this summer and we will not let this affect anything we have scheduled. The show must go on, as we all well know."
Elmgren left HAMMERFALL in order to concentrate on his second passion: flying.
"My interest in aviation has been growing very strong during the last couple of years, and I would have hoped for an opportunity like this maybe in a couple of years," Stefan said in a statement. "I feel it's time for me to take the step and become a pilot on a professional level, another dream come true for me after travelling around the world and playing metal for eleven years. We have discussed the possibility of combining the piloting work with HAMMERFALL, but we all realized that it would be impossible given the rigorous schedule of the band."
HAMMERFALL singer Joacim Cans is scheduled to appear on the Swedish TV show "S Ska Det Lta" today (Friday, April 4).
"S Ska Det Lta" is a very popular Swedish game show based on Ireland's "The Lyrics Board". The program was introduced in 1997 and was hosted by Peter Harryson until Peter Settman took over in 2006.
HAMMERFALL's two-CD "best-of" set called "Steel Meets Steel - Ten Years of Glory" last October entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 53. The set also landed on the Swedish chart at No. 15.
An e-card for "Steel Meets Steel - Ten Years of Glory" can be accessed at this location. The collection includes around 25 classic HAMMERFALL tracks along with three new songs which were recently recorded at Mi Sueno studios in Tenerife, Spain: "Last Man Standing", "Restless Soul" and "HammerFall v2.0.07".
